Great Intro to Coaching

As a first time coach, the course did a strong job of breaking down the fundamentals of the game.

As a former player, the was a lot of material to review on the basics of baseball that could be glossed over, but I found the sections on how to think through the coaching and development process to be very beneficial.

Also, as someone who believes the youth game has become just as much about the parents as the children, I appreciated how the training put the focus squarely on the development of the child and team vs pushing a win first mentality just to appease the parents.

We purchased about 100 of these courses for our youth baseball coaches. The process of sending them was fine other than I could only send 5 at a time, but not user friendly on the other end. There's no way to track who opened the course and we had several people get the course to different emails who didn't actually get the course completed. Which meant we spent money on something that went unused. Overall, managing the distribution process has been painful. It would be so much easier if we could purchase a code to distribute to them. Eliminating the potential for the email to get caught in spam and giving them the ability to access the information on their own.

Then the course itself consist of a reading material that is not user friendly. I was lengthy and way too much information for the 30 question quiz. The quiz itself, was overly general and too specific at the same time. The wording of the questions was confusing related to the answer option that were provided. Not to mention some of the more technical questions are outdated with current philosophies and teaching. In summary, if we weren't required by Babe Ruth / Cal Ripken to have our coaches complete this, I wouldn't recommend it. There are so many other resources available that provide better information.
