About Coach Certification

There is no one single action that can have more of a positive impact on our players than improving the quality and knowledge of our managers and coaches. Managers and coaches are the ones who spend the most time interacting with our participants and the ones who can make a child's experience in youth sports fun and memorable. Therefore, it is vital for youth coaches to be properly trained to focus more on the child's baseball and softball experience and less on winning games.

With this in mind, the Babe Ruth League Coaching Certification Program was developed. Under the program, all Babe Ruth League-affiliated baseball and softball coaches must complete coaching education and certification.

The Babe Ruth League Coaching Certification Program consists of the following online courses:

• Coaching Youth Baseball the Babe Ruth League Way
• Coaching Youth Softball the Babe Ruth League Way

Babe Ruth League, Inc. exclusively endorses these online courses for certification. The courses were developed and are delivered by Human Kinetics Coach Education.

Coaches who successfully pass the course for the sport they coach receive a certification that is valid for their entire coaching career with Babe Ruth League, Inc.

Babe Ruth League, Inc., their affiliates, and their respective officers and agents cannot control who goes through the certification process as it is open to all interested coaches. Babe Ruth League, Inc. requires all of its coaches to have background checks. Babe Ruth League, Inc. recommends Sports Engine Verify for the background-check service. Once a volunteer has successfully completed a background check, it is valid for a two-year period.

Baseball and softball coaches affiliated with Babe Ruth League are required to become certified by purchasing and taking the course for the sport coached. It's an investment that will provide dividends for seasons to come.

After purchasing your course, you will receive an email containing instructions and link for accessing your course.

Purchasing Courses in Bulk

If you are a league administrator purchasing courses in bulk (two or more courses) to assign to your coaches, click on the course you want to purchase, adjust the quantity in your shopping cart, and complete your transaction. You will receive an order confirmation email containing a link and instructions for assigning the courses to your coaches. Please note that there are no discounts on bulk purchases.

We recommend you print a certificate of course completion for yourself to document your achievement and print and/or save a copy for league records. As coach, you are responsible for providing your certificate of course completion to your league administrator.
