What if you could provide your coaches with a more convenient, cost-effective, and time-saving alternative for gaining an Iowa Board of Educational Examiners (IBOEE) coaching license?
Now you can. A new approach for delivering coach education and certification—approved by the IBOEE—significantly reduces the amount of time your coaches spend in the classroom by shifting a portion of the required training online.
Traditionally, coaches under your tutelage complete coursework through your area community college to achieve IBOEE coaching endorsements, coaching authorizations, and coaching renewals. This coursework necessitates a minimum of 55 hours in the classroom, often held over multiple weekends.
With this new blended-course option, the 55 hours of coursework is divided between classroom and online instruction. This format reduces the amount of time coaches spend in the classroom, not to mention the travel time and expenses associated with getting to and from classes. It also maintains the face-to-face interaction so beneficial to classroom instruction while offering coaches the learn-at-home flexibility of online courses. Your coaches will appreciate the convenience and potential cost-savings of this new certification option.
Among the Iowa Coaching Authorization Program approved providers that have adopted the blended curriculum are
- Eastern Iowa Community College
- Northeast Iowa Community College
- Western Iowa Tech Community College
- Des Moines Area Community College
- Indian Hills Community College
Athletic directors and coaches in districts served by these community colleges can take advantage of this new training and certification method right now. Contact your local provider for more information on the curriculum and enrollment process:
