LA84 Foundation and Southern California Municipal Athletic Federation (SCMAF) have partnered with leading coaching education provider Human Kinetics Coach Education to offer a customized online training and certification program to SCMAF coaches.

Through the contributions of the LA84 Foundation, 3,000 coaches per year have an opportunity to take the LA84 Foundation's Art of Coaching for SCMAF Coaches online course. Participation is highly recommended by LA84 Foundation and SCMAF.

The two-tiered coaching education program features the general coaching course "LA84 Foundation’s Art of Coaching for SCMAF Coaches," plus sport-specific “LA84 Foundation’s Coaching Youth [Sport]” course for basketball.

If you are a SCMAF coach looking to take the LA84 Art of Coaching for SCMAF Coaches course and you have your key code (provided to you by SCMAF or your league administrator), click on the Continue My Course tab found on our home page.

If you are a SCMAF coach looking to take the course but you do not have a key code, contact your local recreation department or SCMAF directly at the contact information listed below.

If you are a coach not affiliated with SCMAF and you'd like to take the course, it's available for purchase for $19.95. Click on the online course icon in the table below to order your course.

LA84 Foundation's mission is to serve youth through sport and to increase knowledge of sport and its impact on people's lives. LA84 Foundation supports a wide array of youth sports programming and awards grants to youth sport organizations within the eight southernmost counties of California. The organization also conducts youth sports and coaching education programs a number of which have become models for similar programs nationwide. It is a private, non-profit institution that has committed more than $185 million to accomplish its mission since 1985. To date, two million boys and girls and more than 1,000 youth sport organizations throughout Southern California have benefited from the endowment.

The Southern California Municipal Athletic Federation is a non-profit corporation, which was founded in 1949, and serves the ten southernmost counties of California. SCMAF's mission is to create healthier communities through sports and physical activities. SCMAF strives to instill in young people a positive attitude, good sportsmanship, sound fundamentals, confidence, and high moral standards. SCMAF seeks to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and full participation with the belief that in team sports every athlete must be offered every opportunity to play in each game.
