Human Kinetics Coach Education is pleased to work with Parkland College in offering Kinesiology 168, Theories and Principles of Coaching. Theories and Principles of Coaching will emphasize motivation, practice and game preparation, professional certification and development, and administrative duties. The class will examine the Human Kinetics Coach Education philosophy and use notable coaches such as Lombardi, Wooden, Robinson, and Summit as examples. The curriculum is designed to prepare the coach to work at any level, yet places an emphasis on youth and interscholastic sports.

Three semester hours of credit can be earned by completing the course which includes Coaching Principles and the Illinois High School Association by-laws (IHSA). There will be additional assignments as described by the course syllabus. To become certified to coach in IHSA-member schools, student-coaches must complete the Coaching Principles and IHSA by-laws courses, plus the Sport First Aid course.

Students must register for the courses through Parkland College. If you have not registered for your course through Parkland College, please do so by clicking on the following link: www.parkland.edu.
