Course Description
Catholic Coaching Basketball Essentials focuses on how coaches teach the offensive and defensive skills and tactics of basketball.

Course units are as follows:

1. Tactics and skills instruction, including teaching methods, correcting errors, and shaping skills
2. Offensive tactics, including creating passing lanes, setting screens, running the transition game, and executing the give-and-go and pick-and-roll
3. Defensive tactics, including defending against screens, cutting off passing lanes, and helping out
4. Individual skills, including footwork, dribbling, passing and catching, shooting, rebounding, and playing defense

Audience
This course is for coaches of athletes ages 6 to 13 participating in a recreational, noncompetitive setting. Completion of the Catholic Coaching Essentials online course is a prerequisite to this course.
